Naturopathic Medicine consultations are available virtually to any resident of Ontario, or in-person at Folia Fertility in Toronto, Ontario.
First Appointment
This visit type is for new patients looking to start working with me. During this visit, we will review your health history, concerns and goals. We’ll do a deep dive into your symptoms and current habits/routines. At the end of our visit we’ll discuss any relevant lab testing, and our initial treatment plan (dietary, lifestyle, supplement strategies). You will leave this visit with a clear understanding of how we will overcome your health challenges and help you to meet your health goals. Can be conducted virtually or in-person.

Second and Third Appointments
Our second appointment is an lab review appointment where we will review previous lab results including blood work, ultrasound, semen analysis and others. With this information we will create a personalized lab testing plan to investigate the underlying root cause of your symptoms or health concerns. Our third visit is our Assessment appointment where we review all of our diagnostics, and complete your treatment plan. Can be conducted virtually or in-person.

Follow Up Visits
Follow up visits are scheduled as needed. We book these appointments to ensure our initial treatment plan is working for you, to review any changes to your health, and updates with your treatment or any new lab testing or investigations. Subsequent follow up visits will be scheduled at a frequency that makes sense with your treatment plan and goals. Can be conducted virtually or in-person.

Lab Testing
We may decide to run some diagnostic testing as a part of your assessment. This can be anything from checking some basic blood markers, to running a comprehensive panel, or specialized testing.
Blood Work
If we are running blood work as a part of your assessment, you will be sent a requisition to take to any Lifelabs location to do your blood draw. Results are typically sent back to me within 48 hours. We will schedule a Follow Up visit to review the results together. You will always be sent a copy of your lab results - they are yours to keep!

Semen Analysis
Semen analysis is a critical component of assessing male fertility. I work with FlowLabs to complete these tests. Results are typically sent back to me within 2 weeks. We will schedule a Follow Up visit to review the results together. You will always be sent a copy of your lab results - they are yours to keep!

Acupuncture
Acupuncture has been used in traditionally for thousands of years to improve health and reduce disease. Modern research is confirming its safety and efficacy for a wide variety of health concerns. Acupuncture visits are conducted in-person at my Toronto/Etobicoke clinic location.
Fertility Support Acupuncture
Acupuncture can be used to support your natural fertility. I typically see women weekly for acupuncture, and the points change based on where you are at in your cycle, and what you have noticed with your cycle that month. In the follicular phase of your cycle, acupuncture can improve blood flow to the ovaries, support estrogen production and help with ovulation. In the the luteal phase of your cycle, acupuncture can improve blood flow to the uterus, support progesterone production, and the growth and maturation of the uterine lining. It can also be used to reduce stress and anxiety, especially during the 2 week wait.

Acupuncture may improve your IVF transfer outcomes. A 2001 study found that when acupuncture was performed before and after an IVF transfer, 34 of 80 patients became pregnant (42.5%), compared with 21 out of 80 patients in the control group (26.3%). Acupuncture is thought to improve outcomes by increasing blood flow to the uterus and reducing stress and anxiety. It also alleviates pain and reduces cramping. I can meet you at your fertility clinic and perform acupuncture both pre-transfer and post-transfer. I am available to travel to clinics within the GTA.

IVF Support Acupuncture
Acupuncture is safe to use during pregnancy, and can be a helpful tool to reduce some of the not-so-lovely effects of pregnancy, such as nausea, constipation, heartburn and insomnia. It’s also helpful to reduce stress and anxiety.
